Rendili-class Battlecruiser

The Rendili-class Battlecruiser is this mod's tying together of two relatively unknown vessels in the Star Wars universe, the Rendili Battleship and the Star Destroyer-class Battlecruiser.

While Rendili StarDrive was reduced to mostly filling out weapons platforms under the Empire and servicing their older starship designs, they did produce some battleship sized vessels.

I do not know the stats, but I would have this as a generalist command ship / fighting capital ship in the mold of the Victory II-class Star Destroyer.

Role: Battlecruiser / Battleship
Speed: 20 MGLT
Shielding: ?
 Main Battery:40 Medium Turbolasers
Secondary Weapons:60 Light Turbolasers, 10 Concussion Missile Tubes
Anti-Fighter Weapons: 20 Medium Lasers
Complement: 2 Wings of TIE Fighters
Availability: Tech Level 2

I am currently just the old Praetor model from Phoenix Rising's mod for testing purposes, if you have a more appropriate model please let me know.

A Quick Note on Battlecruisers

I think I have nailed down the battlecruisers I need to create.

You can see them here.

What I need now is to come up with sizes and stats for the Imperial Communications Ship (Loronor Battleship? / model for the Pride of Tarlandia), Tagge-class Battlecruiser and Star Destroyer-class Battlecruiser (Rendili Battleship?) vessels.

They should be between 2.2km (Allegiance) and 4.8km (Praetor Mark II) ranges, the battlecruiser range is officially 2km to 5km with the Star Cruiser unofficial sub-class being in the lower range of the Allegiance.

Here is where I am leaning so far:

Imperial Communications Ship
5km
(I am tentatively calling these Loronor Corporation Communications-class Battlecruiser. I am basing the length based on Curtis Saxton's Technical Commentaries which guesses at it as a 6km vessel === we know battlecruisers only go to 5km though so I am capping it at that size.)
80 Medium Turbolasers, 30 Concussion Missile Tubes

Tagge-class Battlecruiser
4km
(The 4km make it 2.5X the size of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer.)

Star Destroyer-class Battlecruiser
3.2km
(This makes it 2X the size of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. These will be built by Rendili unless canon information is released saying otherwise. Wookiepedia also talks about Imperial Star Battlecruisers which may or may not be related but would be KDY, not Rendili.)

What do you think? Did I get the sizing - roles done properly? I would appreciate any feedback.

Types of Imperial Fleets

The Imperial Navy maintained a number of different fleet types.

Most were based at a sector level.

Force Superiority vs. Force Escort

Putting Together the Pieces of the Puzzle

With more and more of the Imperial fleet being 'filled in', some decisions are taking shape.

Some examples:
  1. The Shockwave. This originally sounded like another vessel but I believe it can be fit under the Allegiance-class Battlecruiser design.
  2. Corellian-class Cruiser. These are basically faster ISDs that CEC produces for KDY.
  3. Imperial Communications Ship from RotJ novel. This is probably a separate class, I believe this could fit under the 'Loronor Battleship' grouping.
  4. Admiral Giel's weird cruiser. This is a KDY Praetor Mark II.
  5. Captain Wermis. This is a Star Destroyer-class Battlecruiser. Hope a better name comes out. Based on the design could be the 'Rendili Battleship' that has never been designed before. Hopefully it is retconned that way.
  6. Tagge-class. Separate battlecruiser than Captain Wermis' although they look the same. Built by TaggeCo. Could have borrowed design elements from Rendili.
  7. Who makes the Assertor-class Star Dreadnaught? KDY?
  8. The Mandator-III and Bellator dreadnaughts are there, but we don't really know the stats for them...
  9. So many dreadnaught classes with few being made. At least they provide some variety.

So if it is grouped like that the following could be said:
  1. KDY does most of the heavy warships for the Imperial Navy.
  2. SFS does starfighters and a few corvette/cruisers.
  3. Loronor Corporation has their Torpedo Spheres, their battleships and the Strike-Class Medium cruiser. They are more of a specialist producer.
  4. TaggeCo does mostly support vessels but their battlecruisers are their one real warship.
  5. Rendili does older models and some space stations. They get 'redeemed' under this approach by the new battlecruiser they can field.
  6. CEC handled corvettes, light frigates like the DP20 and their 'cruisers'. Other than that they focused on transports.
  7. Damorian Manufacturing Corporation has the Carrack and the Tartan. Other than that they focused on civilian vessels.
Did I miss anything or get anything wrong?

At least with the new information in the past few months we are moving in the right direction.

IPV-1 System Patrol Craft

Post Essential Guide to Warfare, you cannot talk about the Imperial Navy without talking about the IPV-1 System Patrol Craft.

The IPV is the most common vessel in the Imperial Navy, with up to 24 stationed on each system. It was commonly used by Imperial Customs.

The main issue with this vessel is that it is not supposed to have a hyperdrive. To get around this I plan on implementing 2 things:
  1. Giving the vessel an extremely slow hyperdrive.
  2. Stationing the IPV at Cardan-class stations and XQ1 Imperial Customs stations.
You can read the Wookiepedia summary of the ship here.

Technical Specifications

Here are the relevant stats I am using:

Role: Patrol Vessel / Customs Vessel / Corvette
Speed: 76 MGLT
Shielding: 400 SBD
Main Battery: 4 medium turbolasers
Secondary Weapons: 1 concussion missile launcher
Anti-Fighter Weapons: None
Complement: None
Availability: Tech Level 1

I am currently just using the default model for now.

Have a model I can use for this? Let me know.

Enforcer-class Picket Cruiser

I've been going back and forth on whether to include this vessel.

You can read the Wookiepedia summary of the ship here. I would call this a 'fast frigate' just like the Bellator is the 'fast dreadnaught'.

I envision it as a vessel that is used in the credit-strapped Imperial Remnant as a patrol and medium strength fleet vessel, similar but not as useful as its Vindicator-class cousin. I think I will include it because it should form the core of the Remnant's fleet due to its use by Ardus Kaine.

Right now I am using the base Immobilizer 418 model, not sure if I need to use anything else.

Technical Specifications

Here are the relevant stats I am using:

Role: Patrol Vessel
Speed: 60 MGLT
Shielding: 1500
Main Battery: 10 medium turbolaser batteries
Secondary Weapons: 6 medium ion cannon batteries
Anti-Fighter Weapons: 10 medium point defence quad-lasers
Complement: None
Availability: Tech Level 4

It is a real vessel that we do not have all the stats as cannon yet so I have to made educated guesses on them. What do you think? Does it sound about right?

Have a model I can use for this? Let me know.
